We are pursuing to appoint a Senior Research Associate in Machine Learning, with a specialism in either Computer Vision or Natural Language Processing/Information Retrieval.You will join the Oxford Sustainable Finance Programme (OxSFP). OxSFP is a multidisciplinary research group working to be the world's best place for research and teaching on sustainable finance and investment. The OxSFP work with leading practitioners from across the investment chain, with firms and their management, and with experts from a wide variety of related subject areas. You will work in a team of machine learning experts within the OxSFP. Your work will have a strong impact component and is in collaboration with The Alan Turing Institute and the Satellite Applications Catapult.
The prosperous candidate will contribute across several thematic areas within the OxSFP with a specialism in machine learning and data science. The post holders will be emerging leaders in their field, and bring to the post demonstrable research and skills in neural network and Bayesian methodologies, including strength in topics such as natural language knowledge or satellite imagery data analytics. You will produce open, interpretable, asset-level datasets with commensurate levels of uncertainty to help project partners and stakeholders to align finance with sustaincapability. You will engage in internationally leading research in analysis of complex, heterogeneous data at scale.
You will hold a significant PhD/DPhil in information engineering, computer science, statistics or a commensurate discipline with specialization in machine learning and with significant post-qualification research practice. You will have practical practice in computer programming of deep neural networks and familiarity with Pytorch or Tensorflow on a cloud computing platform (e.g. Google Cloud). The prosperous post holder will demonstrate research skills and skills in machine learning topics. A strong academic publication record concomitant with practice and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field is essential.
An appointment at Grade 7: £33,309 - £40,927 p.a. may also be considered for a less practiced candidate (with a Bachelor's degree minimum requirement and appropriate adjustment of responsibilities).
This is a fixed-term post for 36 months with the possibility of extension depending on funding.
