We are seeking to appoint 2 Lecturers (one full-time and one part-time 0.6FTE) for our established BA(Hons) Photography course in the School of Visual Communication, part of the new Institute of Creative Arts.
We are pursuing two exceptional candidates to join this dynamic and diverse photographic course. The School encourages collaboration across disciplines, whilst also allowing students to specialise in their area of skills. The course itself has a history of producing prosperous and award-winning photography graduates across a range of photographic genres.
You will have a strong grasp of contemporary photographic practice whilst also possessing knowledge about its past development. You will join a team of academics to deliver the course as well as contribute towards its evolution. You will use your skills and knowledge to deliver innovative teaching, assessment, module management and curriculum development. You will provide both academic and pastoral support to our diverse student community, whilst monitoring and enabling their progress.
Responsibilities:
   » Design and deliver teaching material across a range of modules and/or levels, independently and as part of the course team.
   » Design and maintain virtual learning content and environments
   » Use appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods.
   » Supervise student projects and/or e.g. field trips and, where appropriate, placements.
   » Set, mark and assess work and provide feedback to students.
   » Contribute to the planning, design and future development of the course.
   » Possess sufficient breadth of the discipline and depth of specialist knowledge of photographic practice to develop teaching.
   » The use of a range of communication techniques.
   » Contribute to the promotion and marketing of the course.
   » An opportunity to develop your research.
Skills and Qualifications:
   » Educated to degree level in Photography and ideally possess a Masters and/or equivalent industry practice
   » knowledge of both digital and analogue photographic processes.
   » A broad knowledge of photographic genres with significant skills in at least one area.
   » The use of highly effective interpersonal skills to communicate theories and ideas to an audience.
   » capability to work under pressure and contribute effectively to a high performing team
   » Empathy with students and the capability to encourage and motivate them.
   » Good organisational and IT skills.
