Offer: Professor/Associate Professor in Fashion:Job description:Job location: Newcastle upon Tyne The Politics subject group in the Department of Social Sciences focuses on issues of civil society, participation, representation, nationalism, identity, media, and politics beyond Westminster (local, regional). It contributes to the prosperous delivery of the Social Science Foundation programme and the BA in International Relations and Politics. We are pursuing to recruit a Professor orAssociateProfessor in Politics to contribute to the leadership abilities of this subject area of research at Northumbria. We encourage applications from any field of the discipline to complement but also broaden our existing skills. We particularly welcome Critical approaches, including decolonial, race and feminist, and encourage applications from those able to contribute to the delivery of quantitative methods teaching. The Department of Social Sciences provides high quality, research-rich learning for students in International Relations, Politics, Sociology, Criminology and Policing at all levels from Foundation to doctoral level. You will be part of a growing department and a lively academic community with no less than eight seminar series in the Social Sciences held all over the year. International Relations and Politics is a growing team of researchers and our strengths in research and teaching are clustered around four themes, which students are encouraged to explore in their learning: ?war, conflict and security?, ?nation, state and identity?, ?international organisations?, and ?democracy and active citizens?. Our strength is the use of experiential learning activities that make theory come alive and provide genuine opportunities for students to apply their learning, such as through simulations and joint learning activities with local civil society organisations. We collaborate with local, national and international partners to address the political issues of our time and hope you will join us in doing so. You will be contributing the overall leadership abilities of research and teaching in the department, including through leading project applications, programme development, membership of departmental and Faculty committees and working groups, and through line management of teams and individuals. You will enhance or lead on the development of research, teaching or business engagement in the discipline or subject area, conducting and leading internationally recognised, cutting edge research. You will support and promote the development of the departmental research culture, including postgraduate research. Candidates for Associate Professor and Professor will need to evidence an established track record for publishing in internationally leading journals and for prosperous grant applications. In addition, candidates for Professor will need to evidence significant research leadership abilities in this area. For both positions, candidates will need to evidence teaching excellence and a track record in programme development. prosperous candidates will have a PhD in Politics, Political Sciences or a related discipline.
