This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Bioengineering, Imperial College London. This post is funded by EPSRC IAA grant awarded to Professor Anthony Bull to utilise our developed statistical shape model (SSM) technology at pre-op planning for orthopaedic surgeries. The purpose of this post is to work with other team members to develop a phone app and a website that used intra-operatively for navigation of an orthopaedic implant.
Key tasks and responsibilities
   » Using your expertise of development best practices to deliver high quality, performance code that incorporates accessibility from the outset
   » Development planning for software life-cycle to be Compliant with QMS
   » Testing the developed code Work alongside other researchers, mechanical designers to actively shape and steer the development backlog
   » Liaising with clinicians, industry partners, collaborators and other researchers in the team
Essential requirements
You will have a first degree in software engineering or a related discipline. You will have expertise and practice practice of:
   » practice as researcher and / or research software engineer
   » practice with iOS frameworks, proficient with Objective-C, Swift and C++
   » practice in creating a website frontend with the embedded interactive 3D model using Django, HTML, JavaScript etc.
In addition, it will be highly beneficial to your application if you have hands-on practice with:
   » Hands-on practice with machine learning, deep leaning
   » broad practice in OpenCV, VTK or equivalent
   » Familiar with IEC 62304 - software life cycle for medical device
   » practice with AWS
A portfolio is highly beneficial to your application once shortlisted for an interview.
You will benefit from joining a vibrant, multidisciplinary team with access to skills across a range of fields. We are seeking to appoint someone with strong programming skills to participate in different cutting-edge projects that happen in our research group. There is the strong potential to move to an Imperial College spinout company at the end of this contract.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research adjunct within the income range £ £36,694- £39,888 per annum.
The post is offered on a full time from now, fixed term basis until 30 June 2022 for the first instance, with the possibility to move to a spinout company, or an extension at Imperial College. The post is located in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London (White City Campus, Sir Michael Uren Hub) for now.
