Job Opportunity: Research Practicioner:Job description:Job location: Oxford Translational Gastroenterology Unit, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford, OX3 9DU Grade 6: £29,614 Underfill at Grade 5:£26,341 The Clinical Trials Facility at the Translational Gastroenterology Unit (TGU) in Oxford accommodates a large portfolio of trials, both commercial and academic. These include studies of vaccines, diagnostics, biomarkers, genetics and new clinical interventions in a range of diseases of the gut and liver. These national and international trials are run and delivered by a growing team of research nurses, practitioners, biobankers and administrators with great support from our consultants, junior doctors and scientists. The work is carried out with a drive to continually improve quality of care and clinical results for patients. We require a Research Practitioner to assist with DeLIVER, a five-year Cancer Research UK-funded research programme led by Professor Ellie Barnes. The function will involve patient recruitment, follow-up appointments with those enrolled, large-scale sample processing and phlebotomy (all significant training will be provided). You will hold a degree in a significant subject, e.g. Biological Sciences and be able to work under minimal supervision. You will demonstrate good communication and interpersonal expertise with the capability to interact with a wide variety of internal/external contacts regularly. You will be willing to work with human tissue and blood samples and directly with patients. Previous clinical practice, practice of working in a laboratory team (particularly sample processing and quality control environment) is desirable.
