Applications are invited for a Research Support agent to join the Department of Sociology's small Research Facilitation team. This is a new function in which you will work closely with the departmental Research Facilitator and the Finance agent to support our academics in all aspects of post-award administration of their research grants.
You will work with Principal Investigators (PIs) on all stages of a grant or project's life, from setting up a new project to closing a project once it has ended. You will need to maintain an up-to-date expertise of the requirements and regulations of research funders, and develop this to accommodate new funders, systems, and procedures as part of your professional development. You will also act as the Departmental Research Ethics Committee secretary.
You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and IT expertise and will be highly organized with the capability to prioritise work with competing deadlines. You will also be educated to degree level or have equivalent practice, and you will have practice of administration in a research or public sector environment, or another large and complex organization.

You will be located in the Department of Sociology, 42-43 Park End Street, Oxford, OX1 1JD and will have the opportunity to work remotely for part of the week if desired (it is expected that the postholder will need to work on-site for a minimum of three days per week).
This position is full time and fixed-term for two years in the first instance.
