An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to join the Freckleton, Edwards and Childs Labs in the School of Biosciences working on an NERC funded project entitled: ?Untangling the spatio-temporal drivers of trait variation in ecological assemblages'. this function will be focused on developing and applying new methods that will allow us to uncover the imprint of evolutionary and ecological processes in determining the traits of species within ecological communities.
You will join an active team of researchers (Post-Doctoral and PhD) working on the predictcapability and stcapability of complex ecological communities facing multiple simultaneous threats from climate and land use change. You will lead on developing a robust statistical framework for assessing stcapability of species abundance, diversity and community structure that helps partition the indices by stress, space, time and phylogeny. The outcome will be a much-needed toolbox for making effective comparisons about stcapability among ecosystems and across ecological scales.
You must have a PhD in population or community ecology focused on space, time and or phylogeny along with substantial analytic and numerical statistical practice analysing time series and their sources of non-independence/correlation including spatial, temporal and phylogenetic sources. practice with making inference across multiple biological scales is desirable.
