The University of Cambridge Sports Service is seeking an Accounts adjunct to work as part of a small but busy team located at the University Sports Centre in West Cambridge.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the function holder will be a key member of the Sports Service team, contributing to the administration of accounts and acting as the first point of contact for staff and suppliers in relation to finance.
The function holder will provide accounts payable administration; checking and matching purchase orders against invoices, liaising with budget holders and suppliers, setting up and reactivating suppliers in the University financial system, raising purchase orders and matching these against invoices, processing expense claims and reconciling monthly statements from suppliers.
The Accounts adjunct will provide accounts receivable administration, raising invoices and credit notes, setting up customer details in the University financial system, receiving earnings and maintaining a debtors list. They will also assist with the preparation of financial reports and month end and year end accounts.
In addition to their main accounts' tasks, the function holder will provide general clerical/administrative support for various Sports Service teams. This may include checking documents and committee papers, completing data entry and record-keeping tasks and assisting with specific termly or annual tasks.
The prosperous applicant must be able to manage their own workload, prioritising tasks within a general set of guidelines.
candidates must be educated to GCSE or NVQ level 2 level (or equivalent), be practiced with the Microsoft Office suite (in particular Excel) and have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
expertise of the principles, processes and general concepts related to Finance/Accounts would be advantageous. However, an interest in accounts and numerical proficiency is equally important. This position could suit someone at the beginning of their career in finance, e.g., whilst studying for AAT or equivalent. Working expertise of the Cambridge University Finance System CUFS or a similar accounting software is desirable, but not essential.
This is a part-time appointment. The working hours are 18 hours per week.
