Harper Adams University is seeking a Health and Safety agent to complement the small Health and Safety Team to work across the University campus. The post is full time and is an excellent opportunity to join a leading University. The health and safety team provide a valuable resource across campus to all departments in ensuring that health and safety is considered and planned for, in all of their activities. As a valued member of the H&S team, you will play an active and visible function giving professional advice, guidance and support on all areas of health and safety. Working alongside the H&S Manager you will be responsible for coordinating the internal activities required to ensure effective control of health and safety compliance. The function is varied and covers compliance and proactively delivering staff and student training and development to ensure they are able to undertake their activities in a safe and manageable way. The function will include particular tasks relating to bio-safety outside of a Laboratory environment, as well as regular inspections and auditing across the campus. The ideal candidate will have practice and specialist knowledge of bio-safety-hazards of working in Agriculture and to use their substantial practice and knowledge of COSHH and Laboratory settings to ensure that health and safety practices are effectively implemented. Harper Adams University is committed to your continuing support, training and development. The hours will be predominantly Monday to Friday on campus with occasional evening or weekend work as business demands. The postholder will be educated to degree level in an appropriate subject (Science, Agriculture, Engineering), and possess a NEBOSH Diploma health and safety qualification, or equivalent. You will provide expert, professional health and safety skills, advice, guidance and support along with an knowledge or practice of the challenges working in a University. You will have practice of writing risk and COSHH assessments, undertaking audits, inspections, developing policies, delivering training and be able to demonstrate a knowledge of bio safety matters or be able to demonstrate an capability to develop these skills in an appropriate timeframe if appointed to the function.
