The School of Health and Life Sciences is seeking to recruit an practiced and highly organised Technical Manager to lead the School's Technical Team which comprises a team of 17 individuals supporting a wide variety of activity across sport and exercise, life sciences, midwifery,nursing and paramedic science.
In the function as Technical Manager, you will be responsible for providing proven expert guidance and specialist skills with a laboratory or clinical skills environment. The function holder will lead and manage the Health & Life Sciences Technical Team to prosperously deliver results in support of learning, teaching, research, and enterprise activity in the School. This will include preparing proposals/recommendations on the future requirements within the School regarding equipment, apparatus and fittings, and space; ensuring the general maintenance/security of facilities, laboratories and equipment; ensuring the team operates effectively within any budget constraints, maintaining accurate financial records, where appropriate.
The prosperous candidate will have the following:
   » Educated to degree level in a discipline significant to the function, or equivalent, with practice of working within a Laboratory or Clinical Skills Education environment.
   » practice of contributing to the development and implementation of efficient and effective working practices, leading a diverse and complex team and implementing Health and Safety best practice are all essential for this fixed term function.
   » Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capability to engage with staff and students on all levels. You will have a flexible approach to problem solving with the capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
