Job Opportunity: Animal Technician:Job description:Job location: Salisbury, Wiltshire
Fixed Term until 31st March 2023 To work with scientific researchers in order to look after the health and welfare of a breeding colony of rhesus macaques. This work includes everyday husbandry tasks such as cleaning and feeding and maintaining accurate records. All work is governed by the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act through the Home Office. Key Responsibilities » Checking the health and welfare of the animals. » covering welfare needs including habituation and training of animals. » Maintaining cleanliness in the animal rooms. » Record keeping. » Reading and adhering to SOPs and risk assessments. » Maintaining the unit to a high standard About you » 5 GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalent). » The applicant should be able to work as part of a team and work under the supervision of senior personnel. » Good communication expertise, attention to detail, genuine interest in the welfare of animals, basic computer expertise. » Basic animal husbandry would be desirable » practice of working to SOPs and computerised record keeping would be desirable.
