Applications are invited from software development and IT professionals for the above position within Bangor University's Clinical Trials Unit (NWORTH). This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative and prosperous team engaged in the compensateing task of supporting clinical trials of complex interventions that inform clinical practice and have a positive impact on healthcare policy and patient results.
This post would be well suited to a self-motivated candidate with Java software development and support practice, who would enjoy the variety and challenge of working in a small team in a highly regulated environment. Reporting to the CTU Manager, you will contribute to the IT function at the Unit, managing, developing and maintaining the configuration and support for a wide variety of bespoke and API located applications that are critical to the success of our clinical trials. The function provides many opportunities for innovation and involves a range of activities across the full development cycle.
The postholder will be expected to provide expert advice and design skills when new systems are required. They will implement new software and modify existing software in a controlled manner, with an emphasis on automated testing and software integrity.
The postholder will design, develop and implement clinical IT systems, including web located systems, relational databases and current trial data management software (in particular InferMed MACRO and RedCaP) to support trials (and other rigorous quantitative studies) in the design and management of data capture, analysis, dissemination and archiving. You will be working with a wide variety of CTU and trial staff including statisticians, trial managers clinicians, research nurses and data entry clerks therefore excellent communication skills are essential. You will contribute to the continuing review and development of the IT function's Standard Operating Procedures and service improvements. You will provide regular reports to the CTU Director, CTU Manager and Core Operations Team.
The prosperous candidate will be educated to degree level in a computing or related IT subject, or able to offer the equivalent in terms of education, professional training and practice.
The function is full-time and is initially available until 31st March 2023, with the potential for this being extended. Substantial part-time would also be considered.
