About the function
this function is an excellent opportunity for someone with curiosity about research and innovation, excellent analytical expertise and the drive and determination to apply these expertise to enable new insights. We are pursuing to further develop our analytical capabilities, exploiting advances in auto-classification, text analytics and data visualisation. With data at the heart of our work, we are enabling rapid, data driven insights into our portfolio of research investments, outputs, and results to support planning and decision making across UKRI-BBSRC.
You will be closely involved in this work which collaborates with many areas of the office, spanning the full remit of UKRI-BBSRC science. You will play a significant function in analysing these data, reporting on these portfolios, looking for trends and patterns in the data, and providing the evidence base to inform UKRI-BBSRC. In your analyses, with support from the wider team, you will have the flexibility to use a range of data analytics approaches, working with tools and software including R, Power BI, Tableau and VOSviewer. Approaches currently used within the team span text analysis, network analysis, research classification and a range of data visualisation approaches to support the dissemination of analyses to our key stakeholders.
About You
To succeed in this function, We are seeking for a highly analytical individual with a robust expertise of the biosciences who is:
   » Numerate and IT literate, with practice of accurate data analysis and interpretation
   » Organised and adaptable to change, working flexibly across a variety of activities and competing demands
   » An excellent motivator, with great interpersonal expertise, together with effective communication expertise and the capability to work collaboratively
   » Able to design and implement analytical approaches in response to stakeholder insight needs and communicate this back as appropriate
   » Able to work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and has a genuine interest in the aims and objectives of BBSRC.
