The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen's University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow in the Centre for Public Health.
This exciting position will allow the prosperous candidate to join the recently funded UKPRP GroundsWell consortium research team. The programme of research is focused on developing agent-located models to inform systems transformations of urban green and blue spaces for the avoidance of non-communicable disease and reduction of inequalities in the UK.
The prosperous candidate will have the opportunity and support to be creative and academically brave, add their own ideas and innovations to the Consortium, and conduct high-quality research that will resonate at local, national, and global levels. We are particularly interested in working with someone with practice in the development of agent-located models of human populations and their local environment, including expertise in model design with multidisciplinary teams, coding, parametrization, model verification, scenario development, sensitivity analysis, and reporting. Complementary expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative methods that can be used to inform the development of agent-located models are welcome.
The prosperous candidate must have and your CV/Cover letter (or application form) should clearly demonstrate you have:
   » Have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in public health, epidemiology, computer science, biostatistics, engineering, geography, urban planning or a related area
   » At least 3 years' practice of development of agent-located models of human populations
   » Publications commensurate with career stage
   » Familiarity with the governance and ethical arrangements for accessing and using data for agent-located modelling
   » availability to teach postgraduate/undergraduate students
   » capability to contribute to broader management and administrative processes
   » availability to contribute to the School's outreach program by links with industry, community groups etc
   » Excellent problem-solving expertise and able to use own initiative.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availcapability of funding.
