Offer: Learning Technologist:Job description:Job location: Northampton Job location:Waterside Campus About the Job Interview Date: 22 June 2022 An opportunity for a learning technologist is now available within the Learning Technology Team at the University of Northampton. The prosperous candidate will provide technical and teaching advice, guidance, encouragement, and support to academic staff on the use of educational technologies. This will include meeting with academic staff, designing and delivering learning technology training sessions online and in person, writing and maintaining technical guides and FAQs, and writing case studies and blog posts. You will support a range of technologies for learning, including Blackboard and PebblePad, undertaking basic system administrator tasks, and liaising with and logging support cases with suppliers and their technical support departments as necessary. Applications are welcome from candidates who have not previously worked as learning technologists, but who can demonstrate a good expertise of, and a keen interest in, learning, teaching and technology. About you You will have a good expertise of learning and teaching, along with some practice of teaching or training, and will be capable and comfortable working with digital technologies, and with supporting others to develop their digital abilities. You will be digitally proficient, with the capability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems, and to undertake simple system administrator tasks (this will not require you to have any complex or specialist computing, programming, computer networking expertise, etc). You will be a great problem solver, and will be logical, orderly, methodical, and with a good eye for detail. Additionally, you will have good communication, presentation, interpersonal and general IT expertise, and will have the capability to work collegially and professionally as part of a team. Qualifications Essential: Undergraduate degree in any subject, or equivalent practice Faculty/Department Library and Learning Services (LLS) consists of the University Library, Learning Technology, and Learning and Teaching Enhancement teams. The Library provides access to print, online and multimedia resources, including University generated research outputs. The Library is open to students and staff twenty-four hours a day, every day of the year, and provides expert help and support in finding and managing information. It contains an broad collection of books and journals, along with adaptable and IT rich learning environments, including silent and group study spaces. The Learning Technology Team manage, develop, and support NILE (Northampton Integrated Learning Environment), the University's virtual learning environment, and offer expert help and development in the use of technology in learning and teaching. Learning and Teaching Enhancement includes Academic Staff Development, Learning Design, Learning Development (who offer flexible opportunities for students to develop their academic expertise, including academic writing, critical analysis, presentations, maths and statistics), and Educational Linguistics, which includes support for English language development. LLS also contribute to the academic output of the University through research and professional engagement, involvement in local, national and international communities of practice and an enthusiastic embrace of Changemaker values and community engagement.
