About the function: The Degrees at Work team are responsible for the promotion, engagement, and recruitment to a range of ARU's distance and work-located learning courses, including higher and degree apprenticeships. The function of the Business Development Consultant is critical to our continued growth of employer engagements and new opportunities. As a member of a vibrant, responsive, customer-focussed team within the university, you will be responsible for identifying new opportunities and leads, developing new contacts and growing existing relationships with customers, and prosperously engaging new employers and their apprentices to ARU's ever-expanding range of programmes. With a degreeand appropriate level of practice or part qualified in a significant professional qualification, you will have practice in lead generation, engaging with customers, and closing business,and meeting sales targets. You will be an enthusiastic and resourceful team player with excellent communication, writing, organisational and interpersonal expertise. You will need to be proactive in identifying sales opportunities and adopt a consultative sales approach that fits with our approach of value-driven sales.An interest in developing an in-depth expertise in apprenticeship engagement and funding rules is essential. We encourage our team to work on an agile basis, and your main campus base will be either be Chelmsford, Cambridge, or Peterborough, as preferred, with the capability to travel between the three as required. We provide a laptop to allow you to work from any ARU location, or in the house. You should be prepared to travel to customer locations outside of ARU's core region. Some out of hours working (occasional evenings and weekends) may be required from time to time to support with recruitment events.
