Job Opportunity: Lecturer in Sports Performance and Coaching:Job description:Job location: Colchester The School The School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences was created in August 2017 bringing together sport and exercise sciences, physiotherapy, sports therapy and related activity. This presents exciting opportunities for new interdisciplinary collaborations and partnership working with external agencies including a range of healthpractitioners. The University of Essex has expanded its facilities for sports performance, research and education with the opening of a new facility in January 2018. We are now seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Sports Coaching to contribute to the prosperous BSc Sports Performance and Coaching and MSc Coaching Science programmes. tasks of the function You will contribute to the research environment in research groups. These groups have international skills in green exercise, elite sport, paediatric exercise science, cardiovascular health and rehabilitation. You will also carry out such teaching and administration tasks as requested. tasks will include engaging effectively in substantive teaching and learning support functions in the School, supervising student projects, fieldwork and placements, developing a research agenda, which pursues individual and/or collaborative research objectives and deliver engaging practical coaching sessions and support teaching around sports coaching literature. Qualifications and Skills required The prosperous candidate will hold a significant doctoral level research degree or be close to completion and will have Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, or the capability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate. Ideally, you will hold a minimum level 2 coaching qualification (or be close to completion) or equivalent. practice of designing and planning learning activities, developing effective learning environments and proven practice in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential to engage in teaching and learning support in Higher Education in imaginative, engaging and innovative ways are essential for this post. You will also have a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes and evidence of a research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile.
