We seek a talented, motivated postdoctoral researcher with practical skills in semiconductor processing and/or semiconductor quantum optics to join our team. You will conduct research in the use of semiconductor integrated photonics and discrete light sources for optical quantum technology.

Candidates must have a PhD in Engineering, Physics or closely-related subject focusing on semiconductor processing and/or quantum optics. practice of experimental work in an optics lab or of semiconductor processing are essential. Desirable criteria include photonic device modelling and an interest in quantum physics. You will have a strong research record demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.

You will join a vibrant and growing research group working on semiconductor quantum optics. The group runs two newly equipped labs appropriate for high resolution optical spectroscopy, photon counting and quantum optics. Processing will occur in the Institute for Compound Semiconductors (ICS) cleanroom which forms part of > £300m investment in new research and innovation centres in South Wales. The ICS will be a unique facility in Europe, equipped with epitaxy, state-of-the art fabrication and device characterisation facilities.

This post is full time (35 hours a week), available immediately with a fixed term of 24 months.
