The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Liverpool John Moores University is seeking to appoint a mobile app developer to join an exciting research and development project combining IoT sensors, data science, artificial intelligence, and database/IoT/mobile app development to deliver innovative sustainable transport solutions for the Liverpool City Region and beyond.
The project has already developed an exciting suite of digital assets currently being used by local authorities and citizens in the Liverpool City Region, including a network of IoT sensors, an intelligent dashboard, and an active travel mobile app. Some information about the project and its outputs can be found here, here, and here.
Working with an practiced team, you will provide essential maintenance to the current mobile app, making sure that it continues to deliver the expected outputs. In addition, you will have the freedom to lead the development of some improved mobile app functionalities to make the system even more useful for users and widen its scalcapability and commercial attractiveness. If prosperous, this will help sustaining the team and making this post permanent.
It is expected that you will have strong, demonstrable practice and expertise in mobile app development leading to prosperous products. prosperous programming practice of Ractive Native using Expo, as well as managing/publishing mobile apps during their life cycles is a must. practice of working with external APIs for mobile apps is required. You should also have some practice working with relational databases and good expertise of persistence using redux-thunk. practice in web development and working with map APIs would be highly advantageous although not essential. practice connecting mobile apps with IoT sensors and/or smart cities systems is also desirable but not mandatorily required.
This R&D project is the extension of the technical strand of a wider Liverpool City Region (LCR) Sustainable Green Travel Corridors project, which supports the economic resurgence of the Liverpool City Region by improving sustainable transport links (such as cycling and walking), removing transport barriers and broadening the travel choices available to LCR visitors and residents.
