adjunct Principal:Job description:Job location: Durham The Department and function purpose The Colleges and Student practice Division includes the 14 Maintained Colleges, practice Durham, the Student Support and Wellbeing Directorate, and the Wider Student practice Operations Directorate. The post holder will lead the majority of the College's work on student support and development, leading on individual student support cases and escalating complex cases as necessary. The post holder will also take a lead function in pro-active wellbeing and development initiatives within the College, in addition to conducting disciplinary interventions with students on the occasions this is necessary. St Aidan's College was founded in 1947 as part of the exciting post-war expansion of opportunities for women in higher Education and moved to its current site in 1964. The College has been mixed since 1985 and we cherish our reputation as an inclusive, multicultural and supportive community with excellent staff-student relationships. Our wider links include regional charities which specialise in support for migrant and LGBT+ communities. we At Presenthave approximately 1100 full-time student members in Durham City, of whom around 250 are postgraduates. The College also has approximately 300 distance-learning part-time postgraduates located away from Durham but with a College affiliation. The Senior Student Support and Development agent will assist the Principal and Vice-Principal & Senior Tutor in matters concerning student development and support, with particular responsibilities for maintaining and developing the College community. One day a week will be dedicadted to maintaining and managing the college library. The post is 0.6 Full Time Equivalent; i.e. the equivalent of 3 days per week. Core responsibilities: » Recognised professional practitioner and service specialist. » Implement changes to the design and development of service processes, techniques and deliverables for one or more service strands or project streams. » Contribute to development of operational service activities to ensure excellence in the stakeholder practice. » Collect and analyse stakeholder feedback to help define needs and requirements and the design and planning of services. » Internal and external relationship development and partnership working, networking and participation to engage and influence future services and the University reputation. » Deliver training and/or development for stakeholders. » Maintain an consciousness of current policy for University business goals such as widening participation and access, and provision of advice using specialist expertise. » Contribute to and lead business meetings, working groups and sub-committees at departmental and operational service levels.
