The Psychology Department at Nottingham Trent University is seeking a Lecturer in Psychology and Ageing to further strengthen our teachingand research.
As Lecturer in Psychology and Ageing you will be joining a department with a strong profile in ageing research including funding capture from ESRC, NIHR, EPSRC, the British Academy, and the BIAL Foundation. continuing ageing research in the department includes work on sensory deficits, memory, multisensory processing, autobiographical memory, dementia assessment, movement and mobility as well as work with EEG and TMS. We have a standing panel of over 300 older volunteers to facilitate ageing research and a wide variety of equipment including a sound-attenuating booth, eye trackers, driving simulator, motion tracking, VR, EEG, TMS, and a 1.5T scanner (currently used for structural scanning with functional capabilities in the process of installation).You will have a strong existing research profile and evidence of world leading potential in psychology and ageing, including collaborative research andideally prosperous funding bids.This is an exciting opportunity to join and collaborate with a large and diverse group of psychologists within a department that also has an outstanding reputation for teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
You will be joining a very large, lively, diverse, collegiate and ambitious group with an excellent reputation for its theoretically informed impactful and applied research and its teaching provision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.Colleagues in the department have a range of backgrounds, spanning most areas of psychology.
The Department is the largest research unit in the University and in the submission to REF2021 (Unit of Assessment A04, http://www.ref.ac.uk/) 65% of our research outputs were identified as internationally excellent or world leading and 100% of our research impact and research environment was recognised as internationally excellent with 60% of impact and 35% of environment described as world leading.
We are the largest provider of full-time undergraduate degrees in psychology in the UK. Our NSS scores for overall satisfaction have been above 90% foreight of the last nine years. We lead in the University on issues of diversity and inclusion and are the only department at NTU to have achieved Athena SWAN recognition.
You should be an enthusiastic teacher with excellent communication and interpersonal expertise and a commitment to supporting students' development at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
