As well as skills in learning and teaching, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is widely recognized for world-class research. We are now seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate in Molecular Cardiology to work within One Health Cardiology Research Group at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Surrey. The project will involve characterising the cardiac channelome in the equine model to help provide molecular insights into risk for sudden cardiac death and other arrhythmic events.
The prosperous applicant will join an interdisciplinary team at the school and will be primarily engaged in the conduct of molecular work (e.g ELISA, RNA sequencing, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, Western blots) and selected electrophysiological experiments where appropriate. A major component of this post will also involve high throughput data analysis, data management and archiving, project administration and manuscript preparation. A proven track record in all these areas would be desirable.
Candidates should hold a PhD in a related discipline and ideally with previous postdoctoral research practice. The position is a 1 FTE fixed-term for 24 months. candidates must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and engage in scholarly activities conducive to a long-term prosperous academic career that will support and enhance the research culture within the school. candidates should be prepared to travel abroad for collection of tissue samples.
