Oxford Brookes University and Oxford University Hospitals is seeking to jointly appoint a clinical academic Professor of Rehabilitation, to provide leadership abilities in the development of Allied Health Professional (AHP) research across both clinical and academic environments. The Professor of Rehabilitation post is jointly funded by the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Oxford Brookes University, and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post-holder will be employed by Oxford Brookes University within the Department of Sport, Health Sciences and Social Work and will have a link function reporting to the Head of Therapies at Oxford University Hospitals.
The Professor of Rehabilitation function is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of research in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or related fields, within this dynamic and exciting partnership. The prosperous candidate will work in partnership with the Departmental Research Lead, OxINMAHR Director, Research Centre directors, other significant Professors and Readers and Heads of Department to formulate and implement research action plans which are compatible with and support the achievement of the Faculty's research strategy and they will work closely with the Head of Therapies to lead the development of the research culture within the AHP workforce within Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be required:
   » to lead a prosperous independent programme of research in an area that complements and strengthens existing areas of research skills.
   » to develop and write proposals to attract significant funding to support the programme of research as defined by the departmental research strategy and the OUH NHS FT AHP strategy.
   » to promote and disseminate the Department's and the Trust's interdisciplinary and collaborative research and expertise transfer activities, both nationally and internationally, through publications in both academic and professional publications, conference attendance, media located activities and through engagement with appropriate OBU and OUH NHSFT research networks, cross institutional bodies, professional and industrial bodies and engagement with significant learned societies.
   » to be a key member of the Departmental Management group to help deliver on its key objectives and to be a fundamental member of the Head of Therapies senior team and contribute to the wider Trust research leadership abilities as determined by the Chief Allied Health Professions agent.
   » to provide guidance, encouragement, and support on research matters for colleagues in their research area, including mentoring lecturers, senior lecturers, programme leaders and clinical colleagues especially in relation to research, postdoctoral student supervision, and career development.
   » to undertake lectures, seminars, and tutorials and to supervise student research from Undergraduate to Doctoral level.
   » to participate in the administrative processes of the Department, Faculty, University and Trust including committee membership, quality assurance procedures, recruitment and admissions as required.
   » to participate in Trust, University, Faculty, Research Area and Departmental meetings, and other committees and working groups as appropriate to their research and teaching functions.
You should have:
   » qualifications required for post: significant undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy, PhD, a significant professional qualification, registration with the HCPC and DBS clearance.
   » significant practice as an independent researcher and in providing leadership abilities for research activities in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy.
   » practice of disseminating research findings through high quality publications.
   » success in applying for major sources of external funding and in collaborating with a broad range of clinical-located health professional researchers.
   » practice of teaching in HE, clinical practice and in the supervision of researchstudents.
