Job Offer: Research Associate in Social Science Analysis of Digitalisation and Climate Change:Job description:Job location: Oxford https://my.corehr.com/pls/uoxrecruit/erq_jobspec_version_4.display_f orm?p_company=10&p_internal_external=E&p_display_in_irish=N&p_pr ocess_type=&p_applicant_no=&p_form_profile_detail=&p_display_app ly_ind=Y&p_refresh_search=Y&p_recruitment_id=157689 The Environmental Change Institute (ECI) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to investigate the impacts of digitalisation in everyday life on energy use, material use, and carbon emissions. The prosperous applicant will be part of the iDODDLE project team at Oxford, led by Professor Charlie Wilson. iDODDLE aims to understand the ways in which digitalised everyday life impacts energy and material use, under what social and institutional conditions, and with what implications for net-zero transition pathways. You will be an empirical social scientist with practice of questionnaire survey design and analysis. Your main function will be to test hypotheses on how digitalised everyday life impacts carbon emissions using nationally representative online surveys in European countries. You will lead on the design and analysis of questionnaire surveys to measure variation in the conditions and impacts of digitalised everyday life on climate change. You will contact with selected market research companies who will implement the survey instrument on their respondent panels. You will use appropriate statistical methods to analyse the survey data, including regression modelling and data reduction techniques. You will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD (or DPhil) in a significant quantitative social science discipline including, but not limited to, psychology, sociology, environmental studies, economics, business studies, geography. You will be familiar with digitalisation and/or climate change mitigation literature and research. You will have demonstrated the capacity to research and publish on significant topics, build research collaborations, and present research findings. You will have excellent written and spoken English, good IT expertise, good team working expertise, and a demonstrated capability to understand and analyse data. This is a full-time, fixed-term posts for 30 months starting in September/October 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. Part-time working arrangements can also be discussed.
