WHAT WE DO
The School of Sport Science and Exercise offers full-time study programmes targeted at 16-18 and 19+ learners as well as apprenticeship programmes targeted at 16+ learners. Study programmes range from Level 1 to Level 3, covering both vocational and academic pathways into further study, HE, employment and/or apprenticeship programmes. The department's adult provision includes both Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in the sport, health and fitness sector. We are a large team of both specialist academic teachers and pastoral support staff who ensure that each of our students is provided with an exceptional practice with results to match. We are seeking for someone to come and join our academic team in the delivery of the pastoral provision to our Sport students.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
   » To be responsible for a caseload of students who require coaching and on-line support as part of their planned learning programme within Sport.
   » To track and monitor progress towards achievement using assessment grades in ProMonitor markbooks, ensuring learner progress is tracked against their target grades.
   » To be responsible for achieving student results-achieving the qualification and target grade.
   » To provide overall support for students.
   » To identify where students require an intervention and implement any actions to ensure progress is made.
   » To facilitate student learning and development through highly effective and supportive coaching / mentoring techniques.
   » To identify barriers to learning and implement a range of strategies to overcome barriers with students.
   » To develop and agree individual learning plans, identify SMART targets and set aspirational goals for students, liaising with academic and support staff.
   » To keep confidential records and provide reports and statistical data as required.
   » Support the increasing use of technology for independent/online learning whilst maintaining the quality of the learning practice.
   » To manage learning in a variety of spaces, creating a positive and focussed practice.
YOUR PROFILE
   » Holds a Level 5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
   » significant highest level vocational qualification or degree.
   » Inspire, motivate and engage the next generation of sport and fitness professionals.
   » Act with honesty and integrity to maintain high standards of ethics and professional standards.
   » Manage and promote restorative practice approaches and strong relationships.
   » function model and promote a positive image of the college.
