You will be part of the Health Inequalities Policy Research (HIPR) Group, in the department for Department of Public Health and Policy at the University of Liverpool. The HIPR vision is to improve health and reduce inequalities through the study of the determinants of health and wellbeing and the policies that impact them. You will work as part of a team led by Professor Ben Barr (Liverpool University) and Dr Emma Halliday (Lancaster University) as part of the Public Health Intervention Responsive Studies Team (PHIRST) initiative funded by the National Institute for Health Research. PHIRST links up academic teams with local authorities to evaluate work that is happening in local government across the UK with potential to improve health and reduce inequalities. This is an opportunity for a senior researcher with advanced quantitative expertise to make a real contribution to reducing health inequalities and improving population health. You will be responsible for leading the design and conduct of quantitative elements of PHIRST studies and working with other team members, members of the public and collaborating local authorities to plan and deliver responsive evaluations. You should have a higher research degree (PhD or equivalent) in health data science or related subject, and strong quantitative research expertise analysing complex data, including expertise of the application of quasi-experimental methods. You will be expected to work in close collaboration with our partners and members of the public in supporting the dissemination of learning and findings through academic and public health improvement networks. You will also be expected to make a major contribution to the publication of high-quality research papers and help to embed learning so that delivery is adapted to improve health and reduce health inequalities.
