We are now looking for a Lecturer in Modern History to join our Lampeter campus on a full time permanent basis working 37 hours per week.
THE function
You will be required to devise a range of teaching and assessment materials, covering several modules and subject areas in the field of Modern History. Applications are encouraged from any aspect of Modern History, though a specialism in one of the following areas would be of particular interest: Digital Humanities, Heritage, Post-Colonial histories or Civil Rights.
You will deliver teaching in a variety of different learning environments and use a variety of teaching styles and approaches, including all levels of undergraduate study and, where appropriate, postgraduate study.
You will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students to the highest professional standards and with regard to the continuing enhancement of the student practice. You will undertake scholarship, research, training or project work, either individually or within a team, to ensure continuing professional development and to enhance the profile of the Academic Discipline, Institute and University.
You will make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Academic Discipline that may cover areas such as dissertation supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops, staff training and professional development.
You will develop administrative activities and make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Campus.

ABOUT YOU
To be considered as a Lecturer in Modern History, you will need:
   » An honours degree in a significant discipline
   » A postgraduate qualification in a significant discipline
   » A PhD in a significant discipline
   » practice in teaching, delivery, assessment and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate level in a significant subject area
   » practice in the design and development of module content
   » Demonstrable continuing commitment to scholarship, research, project work and professional improvement.
   » Some knowledge and practice of applying for grants and working within academic networks and partnerships.
   » Evidence of good organisational and personal management expertise
   » Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication expertise with the capability to work collaboratively
   » IT proficiency and practice of using e-resources including a availability to teach by video-link, VLE, e-mail or website delivery
   » Evidence of capability to balance competing pressures of teaching, scholarship, research, administrative demands and deadlines
It would also be beneficial if you had a:
   » Membership of a significant professional body or teaching qualification
   » practice of supervising postgraduate and research students
   » An capability to communicate through the medium of Welsh
