- THE function -

Ulster University is working in partnership with the Agri-Food Biosciences Institute in Northern Ireland to deliver a new Soil Nutrient Health Scheme to all farmers over four years.

Research is required to validate critical source area risk assessments of diffuse nutrient (phosphorus) pollution and investigate patterns of nutrient attenuation across the landscape. A Research Associate in Catchment will lead the establishment of hydro-metric and hydro-chemical monitoring sites in rivers; develop and lead soil and sediment experiments for nutrient attenuation processes in critical sources areas of pollution both on land and in river systems; manage data and provide data analysis and interpretation in presentations, reports and scientific publications.

The candidate should have practical practice relating to catchment science related subjects and, ideally, related to diffuse pollution monitoring and experimental work.

- Hold an upper second-class honours degree or higher in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
