The University of Chester's Centre for Foundation Studies is seeking to appoint a Lecturer who is able to teach both Chemistry and Human Biology for our foundation year students. The Centre is in its sixth year of teaching foundation years and is expanding due to the demand for extended degrees that include a foundation year.
The Centre offers foundation years for a large proportion of the University's undergraduate provision and focuses on developing students' subject expertise, introducing undergraduate academic expertise, and supporting students in their transition to a higher education environment. We also offer one-year International Foundation Programmes that prepare international students for undergraduate degrees at the University of Chester.
The position requires expertise of teaching, learning and assessment methodologies which are designed to develop students' engagement with academia, as well as introducing approaches to enquiry and self-study. We are pursuing a lecturer who is innovative in their delivery of Chemistry and Biology, and who is able to support mature students who are returning to learning. The post holder will join a creative team of academics, and will be able to inspire students with innovative teaching methods and authentic assessments.
All lecturers at the Centre are also required to contribute to our academic expertise and student project development areas.
You will have a commitment to high standards of teaching and student support as well as excellent administrative expertise, which are required to prosperously manage the recording and monitoring of student performance and to implement appropriate support systems for students. You will be a lecturer that enjoys working collaboratively within a teaching team where student success is a key focus. High-level communication expertise and social and cultural consciousness are also significant attributes required for this function.
