The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen's University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow in the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine.
The Tiwari Lab (www.tiwarilab.com) is seeking a computational postdoc. Our team works on single-cell genomics and gene regulation, combining new single-cell and spatial omics technologies with bioinformatics and machine learning. In this project the candidate will develop new computational strategies to identify human genetic variation linked to cell fate changes in the human brain, with a particular focus on brain regions affected by neurodevelopmental disorders. The candidate can use and combine single-cell ATAC-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, spatial gene expression, and whole-genome sequencing (with long reads) data. The candidate will get the opportunity to explore new analysis methods using deep learning. Depending on the interest, it is also possible to be involved in the wet-lab, to execute single-cell sequencing and other experiments.
The prosperous candidate must have and your CV/Cover letter (or application form) should clearly demonstrate you have:
   » Have or about to obtain a PhD in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology or Systems Biology or related areas
   » 3 years recent significant work practice (includes PhD) to include:
- Programming expertise in one of the following Required languages R, Perl, Python, C/C++, SBML, Fortran or Shell scripting
- practice in analysing high throughput genomics datasets such as single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq
   » At least one recent high-quality original research publication in a reputable peer-reviewed journal, commensurate with career stage.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availcapability of funding.
