Wi-Fi is an essential service for students, staff and visitors at the University of Kent. The University is making a significant investment to improve the Wi-Fi service indoors and outdoors across its large and attractive campus on the outskirts of Canterbury.
We are seeking for someone to join our team for a year to help organise and track those improvements and to work collaboratively across the university to ensure the programme goes smoothly.

Who are we looking for:
The ideal person would be organised, friendly and confident working with a wide variety of people. We are pursuing someone who has practice of working on projects that include managing and tracking multiple activities and with a record of delivering positive results.
You will need to work with people across the university and with external suppliers to co-ordinate installations and upgrades. We are seeking for someone who enjoys this kind of work and is confident, friendly and enjoys working with different people across an organisation.
While the work is mostly about working with people to co-ordinate activities, a technical aptitude would be valuable as you will be working with wireless equipment and with technical people to deliver the upgrades. You will also need to be confident using tools such as spreadsheets to track and manage activities.
We are seeking for someone to work full time but would consider reduced hours working or a job share for the right candidate(s).
We also welcome applications from recent graduates who can show that they are good organisers and can work prosperously in partnership with others.
About the Wi-Fi service
The University provides free Wi-Fi for up to 20,000 students, staff and visitors across over 100 buildings. There are over 2,500 wireless access points in Canterbury, Medway and Brussels. The project is focussing on several areas:
   » upgrading to the latest generation of equipment;
   » removing Wi-Fi dead spots within buildings;
   » increasing coverage outdoors across the broad campuses at Canterbury and Medway;
   » and adding capacity in heavily used areas to ensure a really good practice for all users.
There may be the need for occasional visits to remote sites.
