The Department of Mathematics is seeking a talented new colleague to join our vibrant Statistics and Probcapability group to complement and expand research interests in Data Science at York. You will have a strong research record in this area and the capacity to attract funding and form interdisciplinary collaborations and engage with industry. You will have a passion for teaching statistics and will seek to inspire our students with innovative teaching methods. There will be an opportunity to assist in the development and teaching of two new programmes in Data Science.
We are a research-led department. We have high-calibre staff who produce innovative and technically demanding research on a world stage with a healthy span of research areas in pure and applied mathematics and statistics. All of our research was rated world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*) in REF2021 in all three categories: outputs, impact and environment.

expertise, practice & Qualification needed
   » You will have a PhD, or equivalent professional practice, in Statistics or related quantitative discipline. You should also hold an appropriate academic professional and teaching qualification or a availability to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice.
   » You will have broad specialist expertise in your subject area, to design, develop & deliver teaching to students in the Department of Mathematics, and to complement and enhance the department's research strategy and goals with publicly evidenced, high-quality research. You will be able to evidence your capability to disseminate your research findings at conferences and other appropriate events.
   » You will have proven abilities to initiate and develop interdisciplinary research projects and engage in impactful research.
   » You will be able to provide learning support to students and have expertise of a range of teaching and research techniques & methodologies. You will have practice of Assume the responsibility teaching and learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and of prosperous course planning, design and delivery.
   » You will have the capability to develop research objectives, projects and proposals and have well-developed analytical expertise.
   » You will have advanced and specialist IT expertise and highly developed communication expertise to engage with a wide ranging audience using a range of media. You will have the capability to supervise the work of others, for example as an MSc, PhD or postdoctoral manager.
