This European Research Council funded full time post is available immediately on a 12 month, fixed-term basis.
The post
You will participate in the project ?Forms of Labour: Gender, Freedom and practice of Work in the Pre-Industrial Economy'. The prosperous applicant will research wage labour in rural England c.1300-1450.
The post will include archival research within the UK, reading and analysing manuscript documents dating from c. 1300-1450, particularly manorial accounts, presenting research at conferences, and writing two journal articles, one of which will be co-authored with Professor Jane Whittle.
this function offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time on campus and some in the house.
About you
You will:
   » be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals
   » be able to identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events
   » possess a significant PhD or equivalent qualification/practice in a related field of study
   » be a nationally recognised authority in medieval economic and social history and possess sufficient specialist expertise in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies
   » be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required
   » be able to read manuscript documents written in medieval Latin, undertake quantitative analysis and have excellent written English
