Job Opportunity: Postdoctoral Research Associate:Job description:Job location: Exeter This full time post is available from from 1stSeptember 2022 to 30thAugust 2023 to support the work of Prof. Nandini Chatterjee within the project AHRC-Labex funded project: ?Cast in Stone'. The post This is a Franco-British project investigating the history of controversial statues connected with the colonial historiesof France and UK. You will contribute to the creation of an online digital archive of information connected disputed statues in two post-imperial nations, France and Britain. You will be responsible for work related mainly to the British aspect of the project. You will undertake large-scale survey of all such identifiable statues, through web-located and library-located research, as well as intensive research in archives and through interviews in relation to five detailed case studies. You will co-organise and contribute to workshops to identify appropriate methodologies and to engage with a range of stakeholders, including heritage professionals. You will co-organise and participate in a summer school in Paris in summer 2023. The post will involve archival research all over the UK, presenting the findings at several workshops and conferences, producing two seminar papers, possibly one publication, assisting the PI in organising project workshops, and contributing to the development of a digital database. this function offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time on campus and some in the house. About you You will: » be able to undertake innovative research in an area of topical interest, lgain and use digital humanities tools, engage with a range of disciplinary tools » present information on research progress and results within the team and beyond, including non-academic audiences » contribute to the preparation of scientific reports to the funding body, and extend the scope of the project by developing new project proposals and applications » possess a significant PhD or be nearing completion (i.e. thesis submitted before date of interview) » be able to demonstrate sufficient expertise in the significant area and of research methods and techniques to work effectively within the project.
