Job Opportunity: MA - A Commonwealth Games Legacy 2022-2024: British Wrestling Activating Girls Spor:Job description:Job location: Manchester Project contact: Dr. Chris Mackintosh (c.mackintosh@mmu.ac.uk) Funding info:Fully-funded one year Master's by Research (home fees equivalent) Project summary Funded Master's by Research Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a fully-funded Master's by Research postgraduate study that includes fees and an annual bursary. The project is an investigation into the legacy of Commonwealth Games 2022 This Girl Can Wrestle programme led by British Wrestling targeting youngfemales. The programme will tackle the inequalities of participant representation working with young women from ethnically diverse communities. Specifically, the programme will identify young women and girls from Muslim and Sikh communities and lower socio-economic groups. The project will target communities in urban locations across the country with a focus in the West Midlands, North West and London/South East. Specific partners we expect to work closely with include Women Who Fight, Women IN Sport, The Girl Scouts as well as ActivePartnerships. The intention is to utilise and pilot digital communications to recruit, engage and connect these communities to wrestling. An ethnographic evaluation of the programme will be designed using visual online methods, interviews and participant observations. The candidate should have a 1st or 2:1 undergraduate degree in social sciences of sport, sociology or anthropology. Language expertise of use around Asian and other diverse ethnic communities is valuable but not anecessity.
