Job Opportunity: Research Associate in Cardiac Physiology/Molecular Biology:Job description:Job location: Manchester Job reference: BMH-019316 Job location: Oxford Road, Manchester Closing date: 14/07/2022 income: £33,309 to £36,382 per annum depending on significant practice Job employment Type: Fixed Term Faculty/Organisation: Biology, Medicine & Health Division: Cardiovascular Sciences Hours per week: Full time Contract Duration: From 1 October 2022 until 30 September 2025 School / Directorate: School of Medical Sciences We are pursuing a highly motivated and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Pacemaker Electrophysiology Group at the University of Manchester. You will be funded by the British Heart Foundation on a 3-year project You will join a well-funded and internationally recognised multidisciplinary group comprising basic scientists and clinicians working on several different aspects of knowledge mechanisms and identifying novel therapies for cardiac conduction system dysfunction in large and small animal models, with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. The group has an excellent publication record as well as a commitment to personal and career development. The project will focus the on development of RNA-located therapeutics for age-related sinus node dysfunction under the supervision of Dr Alicia D'Souza and Dr. Delvac Oceandy. The proposed studies will explore the interaction between inflammation and microRNA induction in the heart, and culminate in the development of viral gene delivery methods for microRNA silencing in the cardiac conduction system. We seek to appoint an individual with a strong background in molecular biology OR cardiac electrophysiology with demonstrable practice of working with in vivo mouse models of disease. practice in either single cell electrophysiology, epigenetics, microRNAs, bioinformatics, gene editing or gene transfer is desirable. prosperous candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party.
