The Department of Politics seeks to recruit a Lecturer in Political Theory from 1 September 2022 for a fixed term period until 31 August 2023 to cover externally funded staff leave. The prosperous candidate will play a leading function in the delivery of undergraduate programmes in Politics at Liverpool. Specifically, they will be responsible for leading the introductory module POLI105 Introduction to Political Theory (lectures and seminars) and contributing to POLI109 Foundations in Politics (lectures and seminars). They will also co-teach second year specialist module POLI260 Public Ethics and may make-a-contribution to the first-year module POLI103 Studying Politics prosperously: Skills and Methods. They will also provide dissertation supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students. They will have a PhD in a significant discipline (or equivalent qualifications/ practice) and evidence of an established or emerging track-record of producing high quality scholarship. There are a number of themes in the research and teaching of politics and international relations in which Liverpool specialises. These include political theory, international relations, comparative politics and British politics. We particularly welcome applications from candidates from traditionally under-represented groups. As a member of the Politics Department they will be expected to contribute to scholarship and other teaching-related activities of the School. They will also be expected to undertake administrative functions within the Department, the School and the University as appropriate. We welcome applications from individuals looking to develop career practice in the discipline, who will offer high quality teaching to the department's students. In addition, colleagues on Teaching and Scholarship contracts are supported across the School and Faculty by training and development opportunities in pedagogy, digital learning and other areas significant to their skills.
