Fixed term contract up to 12 months
The laboratory of Dr. Leney at the University of Birmingham is seeking a skilled researcher with practice in biochemistry and/or mass spectrometry to tackle an exciting project on developing biotechnology from microalgae. The project will involve learning how to grow microalgae, extract proteins, and characterise algae's fascinating macromolecular machines. The project may also involve working with mass spectrometry and chromatographic techniques.
The post-holder will hold a Bsc in a biochemistry or related fields and have a good grasp of structural biology. The prosperous applicant does not strictly need mass spectrometry practice but should have a keen interest in mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry. He/she will have practical practice in a wide variety of biochemical and analytical techniques. Computational practice is desirable. Overall, the prosperous candidate should be enthusiastic to pick up new techniques and lgain new expertise. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively complex information, prioritise their workload and show strong attention to detail.
