We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant in the Management Accounts team within NHS England and NHS Improvement. The management accounts team is part of the Financial Control team within NHS England and NHS Improvement work out of the offices at Quarry House in Leeds. Financial Control is responsible for co-ordinating effective audit and control processes, working with the Audit Committee and managing key external relationships with auditors and related national bodies. The Team ensure that robust financial accounting and budgetary control systems, processes and standards are developed and maintained for NHS England, NHS Improvement and the wider commissioning system. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective AOB process, leading on the implementation of the lease accounting IFRS16 processes along with having key responsibility on delivering a balanced position in key centrally held budgets. This will include the production of monthly reports, forecasting, creation of annual budgets, report-writing, financial training and liaising with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that risks and issues affecting financial performance are communicated clearly and managed effectively. The function supports the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service. The function is designed to build a combination of subject matter skills and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery. Candidates should therefore be confident in liaising with multiple stakeholders, have excellent communication skills and be able to use their initiative to deal with problems and work as a supportive and efficient team member, with a good attention to detail.
