The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. We are pursuing to appoint a Research Fellow in genomics to work on a research project investigating the human transcriptomic response to dengue virus, funded by Janssen Global Public Health. This project seeks to describe the host responses that occur during the early infection stages, which will allow the assessment of the impact of future intervention strategies.
The post holder will work within a larger genomics team investigating the virus genomic changes during dengue infection. The post holder is expected to conduct research at the highest level in a team-oriented, result driven, international research environment that provides an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated scientist. The function will also require working closely with other academic research groups and professional support staff, and will require excellent communication, organizational and team working expertise.
The prosperous applicant will have a doctoral degree, either awarded or submitted, ideally in host response genomics, significant practice in generating transcriptomic data and analyzing the results, ideally in infectious disease, contributions to written output, preferably peer-reviewed, as expected by the subject area/discipline in terms of types and volume of outputs, proven capability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a research team, and proven capability to meet research deadlines, evidence of excellent interpersonal expertise, including the capability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, evidence of good organizational expertise, including effective time management. The post is full-time and is fundedby theJanssen Global Public Health for 12 months until 31 August 2023. The income will be on the Academic scale, Grade 6 scalein the range £40,611 - £46,119 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting).The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary ?Wellbeing Days?. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is located in London.
