income: The starting income for a Lecturer will be from £36,382 up to £37,419 (Grade F) and the starting income for a Senior Lecturer will be £46,042 up to £60,062 (Grade G) depending on qualifications and practice.

Summary of the function
We are pursuing to appoint a new Senior Lecturer with a particular interest in international relations, political communication, comparative politics or a combination of these areas.
The post, which is located at our Penryn campus in Cornwall, will include undertaking research in Politics or interdisciplinary humanities and/or social sciences, securing external research funding, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in political communication or comparative politics related to the substantive topic areas of any of security studies, political participation, environmental politics or social justice; supervising postgraduate research students and assisting with administrative tasks connected with teaching and research. Applications are encouraged from those using a diverse range of approaches including quantitative data analysis.
The College/department
Humanities and Social Sciences, Penryn, is a new and exciting interdisciplinary department focused on ensuring a more socially just world. We deliver innovative interdisciplinary and subject specific degree programmes in Law, Politics and History, with Modern Languages. Our Politics cluster is looking to enhance our strengths in comparative politics and political communication, to complement our existing specialism in international relations, environmental politics, public policy and political theory. The last two national research assessment exercises have placed Politics at Exeter firmly in the top ten UK departments. We offer a diverse and globalised teaching curriculum at undergraduate and are looking to develop our post-graduate offerings. Over half of our staff members are non-UK and we warmly welcome applications from international candidates, as well as those from women, ethnic minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and candidates with disabilities.
About you
You will have:
   » A PhD or equivalent in Politics or interdisciplinary social science and/or humanities and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a significant active field of research
   » A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
   » An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
   » Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes
   » Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
   » Involvement in projects which develop impact
   » A strong potential for research leadership abilities
   » A track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture
   » Relationships with external organisations and funders/ and expertise and practice of key sectors or business challenges
