Job Opportunity: Lecturer in Social Sciences:Job description:Job location: Lanarkshire, Paisley An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Lecturers in Social Sciences to join the academic team on a full-time basis within the School of Education and Social Sciences at the UWS Paisley and Lanarkshire Campus. You will be joining a growing team with a broad range of academic and professional skills. As a lecturer you will be expected to make a broad contribution to the academic work of the Social Sciences team. practice of teaching at an undergraduate level and having an undergraduate degree in a significant discipline are essential. Desirable candidates will have, or will be working towards completing, a PhD and have teaching practice across the subject area of social sciences. Our ideal candidate will have practice of using technology to enhance online learning and teaching and have a broad and critical knowledge of research methods and theoretical issues significant to the teaching of Social Sciences. The prosperous candidate should have the following: » Degree and significant postgraduate/PhD qualification or equivalent qualification » Higher Education Fellowship or equivalent » practice of learning, teaching and assessment within Higher Education » Appropriate evidence of external engagement which is clearly in line with the School's priority areas for the future (e.g. external engagement in terms of research, or knowledge exchange, or engagement with professional bodies or other external organisations) » Have practice of delivering and developing modules across the areas of social/public policy or sociology, including human rights and social justice; health and global development; work and welfare; poverty and wellbeing; family and children; and practice of hybrid delivery of learning and teaching and of use of authentic/real-world assessment approaches » Commitment to delivering high quality teaching and supporting an outstanding student practice.
