We are currently looking for a highly motivated and organised person to join our team of departmental technicians, responsible for providing teaching, research and laboratory support within the Department of Pathobiology and Population Sciences.
You will be expected to work closely with the team, and with academic staff and students to support a wide variety of undergraduate practical classes and provide training and support for student research projects.
With area safety manager responsibility, you will also work closely with research personnel, Safety and Research laboratory managers to ensure the safe and efficient running of the research laboratories. This includes maintaining health and safety documents, providing inductions and training for new laboratory users, and promoting safe working practices.
You will also play an important function in supporting a range of other departmental activities such as pathology slide scanning and filing, ordering of consumables and equipment, and liaising with external contractors.
You should possess strong communication expertise and be an excellent team player with the capability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient, organised and flexible manner. Previous practice of working within a laboratory environment is essential, as is a availability to teach laboratory techniques and undertake training required to fulfil the function.
