The Psychology and Sociology Subject Area at the University of Northampton is seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Sociology team as an Associate Lecturer. The prosperous candidate will contribute to our teaching and related activities on our established undergraduate BA Sociology programme.
About you
The prosperous candidate will have a passion to significantly contribute to our outstanding NSS scores via the education of sociology students to the highest standards, located on advanced academic expertise and an active blended learning approach involving workshops, case studies and the coordination of expertise focused classes. You will join a team who deliver a diverse range of sociology modules around the areas of classical/contemporary sociological theory, identity/self, health, race/ethnicity and other sociological areas.
General tasks will include delivery of undergraduate teaching on core modules, expertise development, assessment, contribution to on-going programme development and the range of administrative tasks necessary for the effective operation of the programmes. You may also have the opportunity to participate in internal and external networks related to the function in order that the University of Northampton will benefit from the expertise that this will bring into the institution and also from the personal contacts that will be made; and engage in continuing professional development; and any other such tasks that would normally be expected from an individual of this level: in respect of teaching, research, scholarship and curriculum responsibility.
Qualifications
Essential;
Undergraduate degree (UG) in a subject significant to your stated specialism (to teach/supervise at UG level).
Desirable;
Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc etc.) in a subject significant to your stated specialism (to teach/supervise at PG level).
Professional/industry practice PSRB registration for teaching and assessing on PSRB accredited programs.
Professional recognition as HEA Associate Fellow (D1) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or availability to obtain HEA Associate Fellow (D1) within an agreed timescale.
