About the Job

The prosperous candidate will bring their teaching and research practice in quantitative criminological research methods, crime data analysis and the statistical interpretation of crime rates and patterns. They should be able to contribute to our undergraduate and planned postgraduate offers. Teaching responsibilities will include core Criminology modules as well as providing opportunities to develop specialist areas in the curriculum. It is essential to have some practice of teaching in the HE sector. A PhD in Criminology or significant cognate discipline, or near completion is essential, as is an continuing commitment to high quality research.
The prosperous candidate will;
   » Carry out teaching support activities, including marking, preparation, course monitoring, placement visits, tutorial and dissertation supervision, course administration, curriculum development, cohort leadership abilities.
   » Engage in scholarly activity and be committed to the development of a research and publication profile and to agree appropriate research and enterprise objectives in order to contribute to the research and enterprise aims of the Faculty.
   » Promote the Criminology Subject Group portfolio within the University and externally; support related marketing and public relations activities.
   » Undertake teaching tasks on significant courses across the Faculty, as appropriate. This will include supporting inter-professional learning activities.
   » Play a (significant - for Senior Lecturer) function in enhancing the quality and supporting the growth of the Subject Group and contribute to the achievement of the Faculty objectives.
About You
   » Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of research concepts in Criminology including data analysis.
   » practice, knowledge and expertise in quantitative criminological methodologies.
   » Recent course or placement delivery practice within Criminology or other social science education.
   » An knowledge of and practice in quantitative criminological research methods with a commitment to undertaking research.
Qualifications
Essential;
   » Degree qualification or equivalent in significant subject.
   » Doctorate in significant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion.
   » Knowledge of crime data analysis and quantitative research.
   » Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or availability to obtain within an agreed timescale.
Desirable;
   » Master's degree in significant subject.
