Swansea University has recently been prosperous in winning the Health Education and Improvement Wales tender to deliver the pre-registration Distance Learning Nursing BSc for West Wales. To complement our diverse and practiced of healthcare professionals, the School of Health and Social Care is seeking to add to its existing group of staff following the University's teaching-focused career pathway. The post-holder will work alongside our established team of healthcare professionals across Adult, Child, Mental Health and Learning Discapability Nursing as well as a range of other health professionals.
We are seeking for an individual who is an practiced Nurse and can significantly enhance our student learning practice through teaching and continuing development of the curriculum. It is anticipated that the prosperous candidate will help to strengthen the links between our various programmes of study and our key stakeholders, in particular Hywel Dda Health Boards and HEIW.
The full-time, BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult/Mental Health) Dispersed Learning, situated in the School of Health and Social Care in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science (FMHLS). This is a composite programme which comprises of theory and practice learning. Close integration between the students and the Faculty is a priority and there will be regular visits to our dispersed learners on a weekly basis in a dedicated educational centre within the Hywel Dda Health board area.
The programme has been designed to meet the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Realising Professionalism: Standards for education and training: Part 1: Standards framework for nursing and midwifery education (SFNME) (2018); Part 2: Standards for student supervision and assessment (SSSA) (2018); Part 3: Standards for pre-registration nursing programmes (2018) and will enable students to demonstrate achievement of the NMC Future Nurse: Standards of proficiency for registered nurses (2018).
Dispersed Learning is only available to residents of the Hywel Dda University Health Board (HB) geographical region so offering such flexibility to all students, including those who fall within the WiMD group, means that there needs to be a shift in thinking to support access to theoretical learning so delivery will be a flexible hub approach in a dedicated educational centre
Essential Criteria
   » A degree in Adult/Mental Health Nursing
   » Registration with the NMC
   » A recognised teaching qualification and be working towards HEA Fellowship (Higher Education Academy or availability to apply for this during probationary period).
   » An appropriate level of digital capcapability and aptitude with practical practice of applications which aid student learning.
   » Excellent knowledge and practice and a clear knowledge of delivering a programme online using synchronous/asynchronous teaching philosophies.
