The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences wishes to appoint two Student Engagement agents to enhance its network of support for students. Our team of engagement agents work with students facing challenges and barriers that affect theircapabilityto fully engage with their studies and may put them at risk of dropping out. They provide pastoral support and put comprehensive support plans in place in conjunction with University support services and academic course teams. Where necessary they provide onward referral to specialist support. The Student Engagement agents are expected to take a leading function in the induction and transition of students into the Faculty, and support undergraduate and postgraduate students studying on campus and on our distance learning courses. prosperous candidates will have detailed expertise of how best to support the needs of a diverse student body with positive interventions and activities. They will be a graduate with excellent interpersonal expertise and ideally, a qualification in counselling, coaching or mentoring, expertise of safeguarding and curriculum and assessment design to support student learning are also desirable. The two new posts will work across the Faculty in close collaboration with the two current Student Engagement agents.
