This lectureship is a two-year teaching and research position. This post is designed to reinforce existing strengths in the field of humanitarianism and conflict studies, is intended to make a significant contribution to research and teaching capacity in this area. The function thus requires the post-holder to contribute to the Institute's international reputation of academic excellence with cutting-edge research and publications. Further, the candidate must be able to provide course development for online and on-campus postgraduate taught and undergraduate programmes around their research interests to complement the current teaching portfolio. As such, practice of curriculum design, postgraduate and undergraduate teaching are highly desirable. In addition, the prosperous candidate may be asked to contribute to other teaching activities as stipulated by the Institute Director. The principal tasks of the post-holder will include delivering and adapting existing course units to be taught at undergraduate or postgraduate levels face-to-face and online. This includes convening courses and offering teaching at undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PGT) levels. Also contributing to the international reputation of research in the Institute by developing and maintaining an international research profile through high-quality publications, conference attendance, and related activities. The Institute has developed a novel configuration for research and teaching which uniquely associates academics, practitioners, non-governmental organisation (NGO) partners, policy makers and analysts in sustained intellectual engagement. We offer a flexible approach to the provision of research and taught programmes so as to cater for the current needs of the aid industry as well as prepare the next generation of crisis response researchers and practitioners.
