There is a strong case for hospital-located violence intervention programmes (HVIPs) located in Emergency Departments (EDs). HVIPs have recently emerged as a public health response to violent victimisation, but despite interest in HVIPs there has been no rigorous evaluation of this public health approach to violence in the UK. The overarching aim of the proposed work is an effectiveness and cost-effectiveness study of an ED located Violence avoidance Team (VPT).

The prosperous candidate will be enthusiastic, have practice of mixed methods research, and have completed or be near to completing a PhD in a related field. Being comfortable presenting to large groups and working with a broad range of stakeholders is an important feature of this project.
