Job Opportunity: Health & Safety Manager:Job description:Job location: Birmingham An exciting opportunity has arisen at Newman University for a Health and Safety Manager to join a professional HR Team on a full time, permanent basis. The post holder will manage the Health and Safety function, and will be responsible for providing general health and safety advice, training, support and monitoring across a wide variety of risk areas. They will develop and maintain health and safety standards; provide advice and guidance with regard to compliance with significant statutory requirements, legislation and regulations, and promote best practice in conformity with sector and professional standards. Key responsibilities will also include performing health and safety audits, supporting investigations, and leading or participating in working groups for the delivery of specific health and safety projects. The prosperous applicant will be a Chartered member of IOSH or an equivalent body and have a degree or equivalent in a significant subject area. You will also have significant practice of advising on health and safety in an organisation with a broad risk profile, together with an excellent expertise of current health and safety legislation, along with practice of writing policies, standards and risk assessments. The capability to design and deliver effective health and safety and related training, and to undertake effective health and safety risk assessments and auditing, is also essential.
